The 190th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Saturday 2nd May 1998 over the Rowley Mile, was King of Kings (7/2), a bay colt by Sadler's Wells out of Zummerudd, owned by Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor. The winner won by 1 1/4 lengths in 1 minute 39.25 secs, with 3/4 length back to the third. A field of 18 runners contested the race which was worth £171,800 (Equivalent to £286,900 in 2017)
